Thank you for visiting The Christophers’ blog, where we share stories of faith, hope, and charity that provide food for the soul. These stories are grounded in the ancient proverb “It’s better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”
Founded in 1949 by Father James Keller, M.M., the mission of The Christophers is to encourage people of all ages, and from all walks of life, to use their God-given talents to make a positive difference in the world. The mission is best expressed in The Christophers’ motto: “It’s better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”
We believe that each person has a God-given mission to fulfill, a particular job to do that has been given to no one else. Love and truth come to us through God, but these gifts are not ours to keep. By sharing them with others, each of us becomes a Christ-bearer, a “Christopher” in the most fundamental sense of that word.
The Christophers’ media mission is spread via: 1) Christopher News Notes, pamphlets published 10 times a year on a variety of spiritual topics; 2) annual calendars and “Three Minutes a Day” books of stories and reflections for each day of the year; 3) “Christopher Closeup” radio show airs on Sirius-XM’s The Catholic Channel (129) on Sundays at 7:00am and 11:30am Eastern, and on the Relevant Radio network at 8:30am Eastern. We also air on several other stations throughout the country. Podcasts of interviews are available on this site or our regular website; 4) the annual Christopher Awards celebrate books, films, and TV programs that affirm the highest values of the human spirit; 5) annual Poster Contest for High School Students – and Video Contest for College Students; 6) “Light One Candle” newspaper columns; 7) “Christopher Minutes” one-minute radio spots; 8) Christopher Leadership workshops; 9) Donations of Christopher literature to prison ministries
